Analogies by Dennis Eichmann
The series comprises sets of two combined pictures, both taken at different times and locations. Each pair always has something in common, whether it is the form or the subject.
I have been working on this series for the last one and a half years. Wherever I travel I take photographs with my 35mm cameras. The pictures shown have been shot in Germany, Spain and the Canary Islands, Italy, UK, France, and USA (CA).
Sometimes when I see a certain thing in my environment that reminds me of a picture I have already taken, so I’ll photograph it. Other times the pairing happens after the journey when I go through my archive and find similarities that I haven’t noticed before.
Dennis Eichmann is currently living in Berlin, doing his Master’s in Fashion Design. Before moving to Berlin, Dennis studied Fine Arts in Kiel (Germany) and Vienna.
I am fascinated by the idea of the New Topographics, documenting a human-made world without humans in the actual pictures. I have a thing for repetition, obviously. Maybe that has something to do with being a Gemini. Photography has helped me explore the world and see the things in a different, more mindful way.
