Detach by Molly Goodspeed
Molly Goodspeed’s photographic observations relate directly to stages of life and intention. Determined by the space she occupies and the person she is in each moment – but maybe more importantly, the person she wants to be.
In her most recent work, she’s focused on how one exists in solitude. After the death of her father in 2012, she spent a few years resisting seclusion. In recent years, she’s found that she can only experience genuine healing through reflection in isolation. This perpetually shifting relationship with solitude is exhibited in self-portraits and the subjects that she chooses to quietly survey.
Molly Goodspeed is a freelance photographer based in Chicago, IL. She studies Art, Media, & Design at DePaul University and creates personal work through the medium of film photography. After originally falling in love with the aesthetic qualities of film, the relationship transformed into a form of meditation, a relationship more meaningful than any possible outcome.
