The series “Omas Kleiderschrank” (Granny’s Closet) is inspired by vintage fashion. When we sat down together, we knew immediately that we wanted to shoot the series in the most sustainable way possible. So, we decided to use only the stuff we could find at our grandmas, aunties and so on. Luckily my friend is blessed with some relatives who loved fashion when they were young.

With this series I want to show how beautiful and timeless vintage fashion can be and that it often brings a sense of nostalgia along with it. Same as analog photography does, in my opinion. Also, I think it’s really important that we understand that there are already so many beautiful clothes we can wear and that there is no need to produce tons and tons of more clothes every year under horrible conditions. Instead we should make use out of all the unique treasure that is already out there, waiting for some lucky person to discover it.

Megan Auer is a photography student based in Berlin. She shoots mostly analog with a Mamiya 645.

For me is really important to be as focused as I can when shooting film. I always take my time and observe everything better than with digital photography.
